Recognition of Non-formal and Informal Learning - Objectives

The purpose of this activity is to provide policymakers with useful options for developing effective, beneficial and equitable systems to recognise non-formal and informal learning; to effectively implement the ‘lifelong learning for all’ agenda; and determine under what conditions recognition of non-formal and informal learning can be beneficial for all.

To this end, the project aims to:

  • Take stock of existing institutional and technical arrangements such as who pays, and who manages the system.
  • Develop indicators to measure the benefits and risks and collect evidence on who benefits and who is at risk.
  • Collect evidence of what is working and what is not working with the current systems.
  • Review existing models to identify those that are effective, beneficial and equitable.
