Seminar on Consultation Practices within the Process of Public Policies -- Bucharest 14 October 2008

The context for this Workshop was the need to develop consultation in Romania. Consultation is a well established feature of the regulatory management process in all OECD and EU countries. It has developed in importance through the development of ‘Better Regulation’ policies at the level of the Institutions of the EU and the EU Member States.

This workshop brought together international experts from Sigma, Ireland, the Slovak Republic and the United Kingdom to discuss with 80 officials in the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform. The discussions covered practices that work well and the challenges that face countries without a tradition of public consultation.
