Twice a year, the OECD Economic Outlook analyses the major trends and examines the economic policies required to foster high and sustainable growth in member countries.

The present issue covers the outlook to end-2010 for both OECD countries and selected non-OECD economies.

Together with a wide range of cross-country statistics, the Outlook provides a unique tool to keep abreast of world economic developments.

In addition to the themes featured regularly, this issue contains a special chapter entitled “Beyond the crisis: Medium-term challenges relating to potential growth, unemployment and fiscal positions.”

It addresses the following questions:

  • How much has potential output been reduced by the adverse impact of the crisis on investment and structural unemployment?

  • How are public finances likely to evolve in the medium term?

  • What are the implications for fiscal policies of reductions in potential output?
