2nd OECD-China Forum on Public Debt Management and Government Securities Markets

15-16 September 2005, Xian, China

This Forum is organised jointly with the Chinese Ministry of Finance and supported by the National Debt Association of China. The programme of co-operation is carried out under the aegis of the OECD Working Party on Debt Management, with the financial support of the Japanese government. The topics under discussion at this year's forum included: the role and responsibility of the Ministry of Finance in the development of government debt markets and the regulation and supervision of public bond markets.

Financial crisis: Save our savings

Amid the worst current financial crisis since the 1930s, EU leaders have pledged to protect savers’ deposits. Already most OECD countries have explicit deposit insurance schemes for savings up to certain limits. In a number of countries these have now been raised temporarily.
