Mr. John Panzer is Sector Manager of the World Bank's International Trade Department. In this capacity he manages the group responsible for supporting the development and implementation of trade-related operations at both country and Regional levels. These include trade policy analysis, the Integrated Framework for Trade Related Technical Assistance for Least Developed Countries, and the Bank's growing analytical and operational agenda on trade facilitation and standards. A Chilean national, Mr. Panzer joined the Bank in 1990. Prior to joining the Trade Department, he served in several capacities in Latin America and South Asia including being the Bank’s Resident Representative in Ecuador (1994-97) and Lead Economist for Pakistan (2000-03). Before joining the Bank, he taught economics and industrial organisation at University Adolfo Ibanez and the National University of Chile. Mr. Panzer has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
