|
Under the auspices and with the participation of H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, The Egyptian Institute of Directors had organised its third annual corporate governance conference on the topic of “Audit and Business Sustainability”. The conference focused on three key themes: the role of internal audit and audit committees, the role of external auditors, and disclosure and accounting standards. The event attracted over 500 participants from both public and private sectors in Egypt and beyond. The OECD supported the Egyptian Institute of Directors in organisation of the conference and had participated in the active discussions which took place during the event. The presentation of the OECD centered around the disclosure and accounting practices, examining in particular the relevant differences between the recommendations encompassed in the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance and the disclosure practices of listed companies in Egypt and in the broader MENA region.
