The Joint OECD/UNDP Executive Secretariat forms the basis of the unique partnership between OECD and UNDP-POGAR. Bringing these two organizations together makes full use of both OECD and UNDP experiences and strengths, ensuring efficient organization and effective burden sharing.
The OECD enables access to senior political figures of its member countries and exchange with their policy experts as well as support through its own analysts, providing experience, advice and best practices to enrich the regional policy dialogue through knowledge transfer from OECD member countries to their Arab partners.
UNDP-POGAR makes use of its long-term presence in the Arab world, resulting in trusted, long-established contacts with Arab governments and officials throughout the region as well as regional know-how and sensitivity for the region’s specificities and needs.
The Secretariat is charged with
• Handling the administrative and financial management of the Initiative;
• Providing the Working Groups and the Steering Group with access to OECD and UNDP policy know-how, experts and policy practitioners;
• Advising and supporting the National Committees and Working Groups in formulating reports, policies and National Action Plans;
• Drafting the GfD Initiative’s Annual Progress Reports;
• Contributing to the co-ordination between the Working Groups as well as the Steering Groups of both the GfD and the OECD Investment Programme.
