Name: Domestic Substances List (DSL) and Non-domestic Substances List (NDSL
Purpose: The DSL is the sole basis to determine if a substance is new and therefore subject to the New Substances Notification Regulations (NSNR). The NDSL specifies substances that are not on the DSL but are believed to be in international commerce. Substances listed on the NDSL require less detailed notification packages under the NSNR.
Intended audience: Importers and manufacturers of new substances
Content: Unique identifying numbers, e.g. CAS Nos, IUB Nos; Masked Names (accession nos.), ATCC Nos., organisms and micro-organism name.
