Biography of Mr Dayaratna Silva, Sri Lanka: OECD Policy Dialogue on Aid for Trade
|
Dr. Dayaratna Silva has been serving as Minister (Economic and Commercial) for the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Geneva since January 2003. Prior to that (from 2001 -2003) he headed the Multilateral Trade and Regional Economic Cooperation Division of the Department of Commerce of Sri Lanka, which functions as the focal point for WTO and UNCTAD. Since joining the Department of Commerce in 1982, Dr. Silva has served as the trade representative of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom (1986-1990) and the UAE (1992-1996). He received a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Melbourne and MSc from the University of London. He received the Melbourne Research Scholarship (MRS) in 1998.
