Background

In 2007, the Trento Centre, together with the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Croatia and the support of World Learning Croatia, have jointly undertaken an active review of entreprneurship in Croatia.

Stimulating, facilitating and enhancing entrepreneurial activities and innovation is critical for Croatia’s continued economic development. Key policy recommendations addressed the need to foster a more pro-active, future-orientated approach to entrepreneurship design and to seek ways to increase policy co-ordination and local tailoring. A key role for public policy is the stimulation of entrepreneurship via the promotion of a more focused approach to transferring science and technology from universities and research centres to the business world.
