African Economic Outlook at EU-Africa Summit - Lisbon, 8 December 2007

On December, 8th 2007, the EU-Africa Summit in Lisbon featured a presentation of the African Economic Outlook (AEO). The side event “Measuring the Pulse of Africa: the African Economic Outlook” was co-organised by the OECD Development Centre and the African Development Bank at the invitation of the Portuguese Institute for Development Cooperation (IPAD).

Javier Santiso, Acting Director of the Development Centre, and Louis Kasekende, AfDB Chief Economist, outlined the outcomes of this joint EU/African Development Bank/OECD annual review of African economies.

A unique partnership between Africa, Europe and the OECD, the AEO provides a concrete example of the types of Partnership and Priority Actions the Summit’s final Declaration called for.
