This section provides useful readings related to the valuation of environmental health risks to children. More specifically, three sets of bibliographies are provided.
The first set refers to epidemiological studies that have been undertaken to better understand the relationship between the natural environment and children’s health. The findings from these epidemiological studies have been published in relevant journals or books. Therefore, they could not be directly downloadable. The majority of these references were extracted from the Chapter 1 of the OECD publication “Economic Valuation of Environmental Health Risks to Children”.
The second set of references lists economic studies that have tried either to estimate willingness-to-pay values for reducing environmental health risks to children or that deal with methodological issues associated the valuation of children’s health, such as intra-household allocation, latency, age, discounting, etc. The results from these studies have generally been published in academic journals or reviews and could not thus be directly downloadable. The majority of these references were extracted from the OECD publication “Economic Valuation of Environmental Health Risks to Children”.
The last list presents the most recent work of the VERHI team members that is useful to the valuation of environment-related health impacts, with a particular focus on children. Some of these studies are directly dealing with the valuation of children’s health benefits while other studies highlight methodological approaches that could be used in this specific context. Presentations or working papers mentioned in this list are directly available by simply clicking on the article.
