The Conference on Insurance Regulation and Supervision in Latin America organised jointly by the ASSAL, the OECD and the IAIS was held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on 15-16 July 2002. The objective of the conference was to address the broad range of policy issues of direct relevance for the development of effective and efficient insurance regulatory and supervisory framework in the Latin American countries. The discussionfocused on insurance issues which are of crucial importance to the participating countries such as: insurance of systemic risks, consolidated supervision, insurance intermediaries, reinsurance, investment regulation, etc.
