Third OECD/INPRS Conference on Private Pensions in Asia and 2004 Asian-Pacific Regional INPRS Meeting

30 March-1 April 2004, Manila, Philippines

These events were jointly organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) under the aegis of the International Network of Pension Regulators and Supervisors (INPRS) activities. The events were also part of the OECD programme of the Centre for Co-operation with Non-Members, and were co-sponsored by the Government of Japan.

The conference involved discussion of issues relevant to the regulation and supervision of private pensions and insurance companies. It sought to reinforce the development of the activities conducted by the OECD and the ADB in the Asia region and the INPRS regional network, following previous conferences co-organised by the OECD in the region in Korea (2002) and India (2003). The main topics were: (i) general trends on private pension, insurance and financial markets; (ii) governance; (iii) rights of beneficiaries; (iv) investment; regulations; (v) supervision; (vi) pension funds for government workers; and (vii) risk management.
