The International Forum on African Perspectives organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the OECD Development Centre is now in its 7th year. The 2007 edition held on Tuesday, June 5th in Paris featured a presentation and discussion of the brand new edition of the African Economic Outlook, the AfDB/OECD joint annual report that offers a comparative panorama of the economic, political and social evolution of 31 African economies and assesses progress of Africa towards achieving the MDGs. This year’s report focus is: Access to Drinking Water and Sanitation, an issue of major significance to the African continent. More about the African Economic Outlook.
Held on the eve of the G8 summit, where the partnership with Africa was a major issue for discussion, the Forum was an opportunity for eminent personalities from African and OECD countries to assess together the economic prospects of the continent and engage with an audience of some 300 journalists, business people, development co-operation professionals, researchers, civil society representatives and students.
The Forum benefited from the support of the European Commission, the French Agency of Development, the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
