EVENT: This conference is sponsored by the Austrian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Labour and is co-organised with the OECD and JOANNEUM Research on behalf of the Ministry.
OBJECTIVES: The objective of the conference is to take stock of the policy implications of the work of the Focus Groups on Clusters and on Innovative Firms and Networks of the OECD NIS project. The results of this work have recently been published (see http//www.oecd.org/sti/innovation).
Participants will:
(1) draw the main policy implications of the work of the two Focus Groups,
(2) share experiences to date with cluster- and network-oriented policies,
(3) discuss ways to compare and benchmark these policies in OECD Member countries, and
(4) explore opportunities for future research in the field.
The conference will inform ongoing work of the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy ( CSTP) and the TIP Working Group. It will inform OECD work on implementing the NIS approach in policy making.
PARTICIPANTS: The conference will bring together 50-60 participants from different OECD countries, including members of the CSTP and the TIP Group, experts from the NIS Focus Groups, managers of public programmes in the fields of network- and cluster-oriented policies, and academic researchers. The format and agenda have been designed to foster open discussion and the exchange of views.
