Mr. Pomianowski , a Polish national, was head of Poland’s Development Co-operation, Democracy and Transformation Programme (PolishAid) prior to joining the PDG. Previously, he was Director General of the Foreign Service, where his responsibilities included management of the financial and organisational aspects of the foreign service system.
As Head of the Preparatory Committee, he prepared the 3rd Summit of the Council of Europe over the period 2004-2005.
For 5 years until 2002, Mr. Pomianowski served as Ambassador of Poland to Japan.
As Director General for Africa, Asia, Australia and the Middle East in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1992-1997), he was responsible for Polish relations with developing countries in those regions.
He has lived in India and Sri Lanka. He has wide experience in development assistance, democratic transformation and good governance support for countries with public governance deficits.
From 1980 until 1989 he was an active member of democratic opposition in Poland.
Mr. Pomianowski holds a Masters degree in Sociology from Warsaw University.
