Study Visits to the Industrial Districts of Manzano, San Daniele, Maniago, Amaro-Tomezzo and Alto Livenza, 29 - 30 October 2002

On 29 October, all study tour participants in Buttrio at the Villa Dragoni in the chair district of Manzano (Udine). On this occasion, Adolfo Urso, Italian Vice Minister for Productive Activities presented initiatives to diffuse the Industrial District Model in the presence of high-level representatives from several countries.

The study tour continued with one group visiting the ham and food district in San Daniele (Udine), especially focusing on its finance model involving local authorities. Paolo Menis, President of the District of San Daniele was present. Hosted by Emilio Di Bernardo, President of the District, a second group explored the cutlery district in Maniago (Pordenone) where production is shifting away from knives to specialised surgery instruments and household objects.

On 30 October, all participants travelled to Amaro-Tolmezzo (Udine) welcomed by Dino Cozzi, President of the District, to visit a budding technology cluster where 70 enterprises are engaged in applied research. Participants then visited the furniture district of Alto Livenza (Pordenone) hosted by Sergio Zaia, President of the District.
