In 2007-2008, the OECD Working Party on Nanotechnology (WPN) undertook work in the following areas:
A. Indicators and statistics
A review of nanotechnology developments based on indicators and statistics (click here to download the pdf) was prepared in 2008.
B. Companies and the business environment
Examining the nature of nanotechnology companies and the challenges for business in developing, adopting and commercializing nanotechnology.
C. International scientific co-operation
Developing a web-based list of national nanotechnology research facilities, networks and portals to facilitate international collaboration in science and technology.
D. Outreach and public engagement
Seeking out examples of good practice in nanotechnology communication with the public and promoting discourse between policy makers on public engagement principles and methodologies.
E. Policy dialogue
Reviewing national policy systems for the responsible development of nanotechnology.
F. Global challenges
Assessing the potential for nanotechnology to address global challenges such as, in the first instance, global access to clean water.
