Access to OECD.Stat (new browser version available since 24 April 2008) is free and no account needed unless you wish to save personal queries to retrieve data.
CRS in OECD.STAT environment presents data on ODA in a table accompanied by a chart, which can be easily modified by clicking and dragging selected “dimensions”. Examples of most commonly queries are provided on the same screen (in the tab “Public Views”). These saved queries, both public and private, can be sent by an e-mail. The new feature allows you refreshing saved data in your Excel file after connecting to the internet in any moment in the future.
User Guides and Slide show
The CRS online User Guide and the OECD.Stat Web Browser User Guide will help you find your way through this new system.

One of many new features is the possibility of double-clicking on a selected cell in the table to see the list of all transactions behind the cell. These can be further copied into Excel (right-click on result window, press ‘select all’, ‘copy’ and paste into your own file).
The dimensions of the database include:
-
recipient countries (possibility of grouping by continent or by income group)
-
donors (grouped into bilateral and multilateral)
-
sectors and sub-sectors
-
annual commitments / disbursements
-
flows: grants, loans, ODA, OOF
-
channels of delivery
-
policy markers (gender equality, environment, PD/GG)
-
RIO markers (biodiversity, climate change, desertification)
Another new feature is metadata. A right–click on a selected cell will ‘Show Metadata’ i.e. explanations on data by: recipient, sector, purpose code or CRS coverage ratio for a selected donor, that are essential to take into account in data analysis. Basic concepts and definitions are given in the User Guide.
All amounts are expressed in USD millions. We may obtain results either in constant or current prices. Constant prices (deflated amounts) with a specified reference year mean that adjustment has been made to cover inflation rate in donor countries as well as changes in the exchange rate between their currencies and the US dollar over the same period. Constant prices are recommended for time series analysis.
The option “Download files” gives you the possibility to download large volumes of data which can be saved in ASCII files. Two file series are presented: one corresponds to data included in tables and another one corresponds to all detailed information on individual transactions.
