    DEV Working Paper No. 303: Sovereign Wealth Funds as Investors in Africa: Opportunities and Barriers

    Based on historical databases on SWFs’ transactions, this paper shows that SWFs can facilitate up to 50% of the investment needs in infrastructure in Africa over the next decade. However, there are specific barriers to SWF investments, both in the short and longer term.

    ASEAN economies show resilience in growth in the second quarter of 2011 according to the latest Asian Business Cycle Indicators (ABCIs). Malaysia and Thailand show upward movement in business cycles. Some signs of slowing appeared in China and India.
