16-17 October 2017, New York, USA - UNDP and OECD are co-organizing and co-hosting with the support of the German and upcoming Argentinian Presidencies of the G20 a workshop to support the deliberations of the group in the area of sustainable development. This workshop takes place on October 16 in New York.
Under the theme of “Sustainable Development and Inclusive Globalization”, this initiative aims to support G20 Members to pursue the implementation of the G20 Action plan on the 2030 Agenda; take stock of the outcomes of the Hamburg Summit and put them in the context of the G20’s overall collective contribution to sustainable development for all; and develop options for further actions that might be needed between now and 2030 for the G20 to rise to their ambition. It will give the UN entities, the UN membership, International Organizations, G20 engagement groups and G20 representatives the opportunity to engage in a dialogue and brainstorm on how can G20 implement its Action Plan on the 2030 Agenda and better address global sustainable development challenges and advance towards inclusive and sustainable globalization.
The OECD G20 Sherpa, Gabriela Ramos, will open the workshop alongside Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator, Christoph Heusgen, Permanent Representative of Germany to the UN and Pedro Villagra Delgado, G20 Sherpa, Argentina. Federico Bonaglia, Deputy Director of DEV, and Nicolas Pinaud, Head of the Sherpa Office and Global Governance Unit in the Office of the Secretary-General, will contribute to the event too.
