“Migration and job creation in Africa”

Victor Harison, Commissioner of Economic Affairs of the African Union Commission (AUC)

Mario Pezzini, Director of the OECD Development Centre and Special Advisor to the OECD Secretary General on Development

Monday 29 January 2018

African Union Commission Headquarters, Addis Ababa; Briefing Room 1

Victor Harison and Mario Pezzini will discuss the findings of the latest OECD Development Centre-ILO report How Immigrants Contribute to Developing Countries' Economies and, more largely, the implementation of the African Union Commission’s 2063 Agenda at the regional and national level.

Building on research conducted in the framework of the OECD Development Centre’s policy Dialogue on Migration and Development, the media event will highlight the importance of intra-African migration and of immigrants’ contribution to their African host country in three areas- labour market, economic growth and public finance.

The AUC and the OECD Development Centre will also announce new areas of joint work, building on their longstanding cooperation, with a view to deepening high-level dialogue and co-operation on a citizen-driven, pan-African agenda of integration and transformation.
