Turkey has become the latest OECD member country to join the Organisation’s Development Centre. This brings membership of the Centre’s Governing Board to 26 countries, plus the European Commission.
Turkey attaches importance to international development issues. In this regard, Turkey provides development assistance to developing countries particularly in South East Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Turkey also intends to join the Development Assistance Commitee (DAC) within the medium term.
The Turkish International Co-operation Agency and the Turkish Red Crescent Society are just two of the various institutions which Turkey utilizes for extending development aid and assistance outside of the country. Its own reform experiences in the field of development and its close ties to the regions mentioned above will enrich experience and dialogue within the Development Centre.
