The meeting of the “Greening of the Economy Working Group” was held on 7 March 2016 at the OECD Headquarters in Paris.
Welcome, introductions and scene setting
The EMnet Secretariat gave a brief introduction to the Working Group and present the recently released Policy Note based on the October 2015 meeting.
Implications of COP21: Political outcomes and investment opportunities
Experts on climate change negociations and energy markets discussed the key outcomes of the Paris Agreement from COP21. Presenters opened the discussion with the views on future opportunities for private investment in emerging economies.
Improving the investment climate to achieve the clean energy transition
There is no shortage of global capital; it is simply not flowing fast enough towards low-carbon investments. Without a supportive business environment, the impact of climate policies such as feed-in tariffs and public tenders on investment will be limited. The Secretariat presented preliminary results of a report which assesses the impact of climate policies and broader investment conditions (as well as their interactions) on investment and innovation in renewable electricity generation.
