Alejandro Neut joined the Latin America and Caribbean Desk at the Development Centre in September 2008. Before that he was BBVA’s Principal Economist in New York where he complemented the bank’s endeavors to model and diagnose macroeconomic global and national trends. The years in New York were preceded by an equally fruitful period as a senior economist at BBVA’s headquarters in Madrid, where he built and carried out macroeconomic and financial analysis for various emerging markets --- analysis with a special focus in Latin American markets, but also including the study of other important economies such as India and China.
Alejandro holds a Ph.D. in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He previously obtained an M.S. in economic policy and a professional degree in civil engineering from Universidad de Chile.
