This evaluation covers Trade-Related Assistance (TRA) provided by the EU from 2004 to 2010. The aim of TRA, provided against the background of the aid effectiveness agenda, was to contribute to poverty reduction through a sustainable increase in employment and income in third countries.

The Netherlands and the European Development Fund – Principles and Practices: Evaluation of Dutch involvement in EU development cooperation (1998-2012)

This evaluation presents the findings of the policy evaluation of the Dutch involvement in European Development Cooperation with a focus on the European Development Fund and the Cotonou Agreement. Some of its main conclusions show that there is a growing convergence between EU aid policies and the key principles of Dutch aid and that the Dutch view on complementarity and added value of EU aid has changed quite frequently.

Ex-post evaluation of the programme “Pilot Activities for Education and Culture" in Macedonia.

In order to support Macedonia in its effort to put an end to the emergency caused by the armed conflict of February-August 2001, the European Commission and the World Bank organised a conference of Donor Countries in March 2002 in Brussels, acknowledging the requests of the signatories of the Agreements of Ohrid.

Use of Evaluations in the Norwegian Development Cooperation System

The evaluation found that the Evaluation Department has done a number of things to enhance the usefulness and actual use of its evaluation work. Among these has been a practice of broadly consulting with key stakeholders in developing its evaluation program to ensure that there is interest in the topics to be covered.

Working with the World Bank. Evaluation of Dutch Bank policies and funding (2000-2011)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs facilitated the dialogue with Banks and IFC at Ministerial, senior official, and expert level, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance. Biannual Bank/IMF meetings and the regular BNPP and NIPP dialogues were used to highlight Dutch positions and priority themes. The Netherlands occasionally worked in accordance with donors (in particular UK, Germany, Nordic countries).
