This DevCom Network meeting was organised in collaboration with the Joint Venture on Managing for Development Results and attended by representatives of more than twenty bilateral and multilateral aid agencies. Policy makers and development communicators were able to share their respective views on development results. Discussions constituted a first step in the development of guiding principles on the role of communications in managing results.

After a slow start, public awareness about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is rising steadily in OECD countries, especially where publicity campaigns are run. Our study of three OECD countries shows that successful MDG campaigns are long-term, funded adequately, and involve local authorities, civil society organisations and the private sector.

How can the results and effectiveness of development cooperation be better communicated by donors? The participants of the 19th Annual Meeting of the DevCom Network will deal with different dimensions of this question on 6 and 7 November 2007 in Lisbon (Portugal). In the lead-up to this event, the Development Centre is pleased to present revamped web pages with public opinion data and analysis and information about the DevCom network's activities.
