The DAC's work in the area of governance is carried out through its Network on Governance ( www.oecd.org/dac/governance), an international forum that brings together practitioners of development co-operation agencies and experts from partner countries.
The GOVNET's work covers some governance issues including governance assessments and capacity development, the fight against corruption, taxation and accountability, human rights and development , transparency in support of these elements of democratic governance.

This publication shows how family and kinship structures, traditions and social norms can be instrumental in improving development outcomes. It offers concrete examples from the areas of governance, gender equality and private sector development. The publication is based on the conclusions of an international seminar organised jointly by the Development Centre and the DAC’s Network on Governance (GOVNET).

This one-day seminar was jointly organised by the OECD DAC Network on Governance (GOVNET) Anti-Corruption Task Team and the DAC Fragile States Group (FSG)-Task Team on State Building. Its purpose was to identify and analyze the challenges of tackling corruption in fragile states and take stock of donors’ anti-corruption interventions in this area.

This workshop, held in Dublin on 26-27 April 2007, was organised by the DAC Networks on Environment and Development, Governance, and Gender Equality and the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness, with the support of the Irish and Danish Governments. The purpose was to increase mutual knowledge and understanding of how practitioners are applying the Paris Declaration’s overarching principles to advance gender equality, environmental sustainability and human rights. The long-term goal is to demonstrate how attention to these issues enhances development effectiveness.
