Gender Equality and Development

DAC work in the area of gender equality (www.oecd.org/dac/gender) is conducted primarily through the Network on Gender Equality/ GENDERNET (former Working Party on Gender Equality).

GENDERNET is the only international forum where gender experts from development co-operation agencies meet to define common approaches in support of gender equality.

This joint biennial workshop of the DAC Network on Gender Equality (GENDERNET) and the United Nations’ Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE) focussed on the role of multilateral agencies in delivering on commitments to gender equality and women’s empowerment; how bilateral agencies can best support the efforts of  multilateral agencies; innovative practices in partnerships; opportunities to enhance and scale up work to support partner country efforts, and improved tracking of development assistance focussed on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
