Tourism, an important economic activity, is an area of public policy in most OECD countries. The Tourism Committee acts as a forum of exchange for monitoring policies and structural changes affecting the development of international tourism and promotes a sustainable economic growth of tourism. The mandate of the Tourism Committee highlights the main missions of the OECD in the field of tourism.

9th International Forum on Tourism Statistics, Paris (France)

The International Forum on Tourism Statistics provides, since 1993, a unique platform for the regular exchange of views and experiences on developments in tourism statistics. The aim is to discuss major technical issues concerning the establishment of harmonised tourism statistics.

The 9th Forum will focus on the following themes: i) changes in tourism behaviour and demand; ii) the behaviour and performance of tourism enterprises; iii) measurement issues related to tourist and visitor surveys; iv) new approaches to data collection; and v) the usage of tourism statistics.

Innovation and Growth in Tourism

This publication provides information about the dynamics and characteristics of innovation in tourism, and gives examples of how business models are evolving as a result. The report includes a discussion of the conceptual issues regarding innovation in tourism, it illustrates national and industry practices enhancing innovation in tourism, and provides insights into the potential role of tourism policy in innovation.

Benchmarking of OECD National Tourism Policies

The Tourism Committee’s work on the benchmarking of national tourism policies is unique in the world.  It supports OECD countries in the formulation of tourism policy and in enhancing coherence and linkages with other policies.
