Co-operation on the Investigation of Existing Chemicals

The objective of the investigation of existing chemicals is to share the burden among Member countries. These countries and their chemical industry gather information, test and carry out initial assessments of high volume chemicals in order to identify those for which further action is necessary.

What's new

Revised Guidance for Grouping of Chemicals is now available

27-Sep-2007

The approach described in this guidance document is to consider closely related chemicals as a group, or category, rather than as individual chemicals. In the category approach, not every chemical needs to be tested for every endpoint. Rather, the overall data for that category must prove adequate to support a hazard assessment. The overall data set must allow the estimation of the hazard for the untested endpoints.

Launch of eChemPortal: The Global Portal to Information on Chemical Substances

12-Jun-2007

eChemPortal is an internet gateway that provides direct free access to information on the properties of chemicals (physical-chemical properties, environmental fate and behaviour, ecotoxicity, toxicity) as well as to hazard and risk assessments. It allows users to simultaneously search multiple databases, most of which are prepared for government chemical review programmes.

SIDS Dossiers in database format (IUCLID) available

09-Feb-2005

For a number of SIDS Initial Assessments elaborated within the OECD HPV Chemicals Programme, the SIDS Dossier was elaborated with the IUCLID database software. The databse files (export files) can be downloaded and then imported into a local IUCLID installation.
