This report draws on work carried-out over the last 7 years by the EAP Task Force and other actors in the EECCA region to draw a complete picture of the water supply and sanitation sector in the region and some of the key reforms that will need to be undertaken to achieve the water-related MDGs.

OECD-World Bank Global Forum on Sustainable Development

The OECD Global Forum on Sustainable Development, in cooperation with the World Bank and Agence Française de Développement, will discuss how governments in developing countries can work with local private water companies to provide affordable safe water and basic sanitation, and the role donors, the financial sector and international private water companies should play .

The water challenge: understanding the issues

OECD work on water resource management is assisting global efforts to alleviate poverty, increase economic growth and maintain environmental quality. OECD participated in the 4th World Water Forum in Mexico, outlining best-practices on financing of water supply and sanitation systems, appropriate ‘user-pays’ policies, new technologies to ensure safe drinking water, and policies to ensure sustainable water use for agricultural purposes (available in Spanish).
