OECD unemployment rate rises to 7.8% in April 2009

The unemployment rate for the OECD area was 7.8% in April 2009, 0.1 percentage point higher than the previous month and 2.2 percentage points higher than a year earlier.

Annual inflation in OECD area slows sharply in May 2009

Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 0.1 % in the year to May 2009, compared with 0.6 % in the year to April, continuing the sharp fall in annual inflation since its peak of 4.9% in July 2008.

Unit labour costs in OECD countries continued to rise in fourth quarter of 2008

Largely driven by falls in real output (gross domestic product at constant prices) due to the crisis, unit labour costs for the total economy rose 0.9% for the OECD area in the fourth quarter of 2008 and were up 2.9% year on year.
