LEED Programme (Local Economic and Employment Development )

The LEED Programme identifies, analyses and disseminates innovative ideas for local development, governance and the social economy. Governments from OECD member and non-member economies look to LEED and work through it to generate innovative guidance on policies to support employment creation and economic development through locally based initiatives.

Conference on "Partnerships for Social Inclusion", Melbourne, Australia

Increasing social inclusion requires a joined-up approach that cuts across policy departments. The public sector should re-think the way it operates, moving from a traditional hierarchical model to one characterised by multi-sectoral partnerships and flexibility in policy delivery. These topics will be discussed at this conference co-organised by the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Melbourne, the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development and the OECD LEED Programme.

Conference on "Efficient Local Development Strategies: Exchange of Experiences between Latin America and the OECD", Bogota, Colombia

This conference is jointly organised by the OECD LEED Programme and the Andean Development Corporation (CAF). This will be a unique opportunity for public authorities to share their experience in defining, delivering and assessing local development strategies, based on the experience of various cities in Colombia, Latin American and OECD countries. Confirmed personalities include President Alvaro Uribe (Colombia), President Enrique García (CAF) and Deputy Secretary-General Pier Carlo Padoan (OECD).

Conference on "Decentralisation and Co-ordination: The Twin Challenges of Labour Market Policy", Venice, Italy

This high-level conference was organised by the Senate and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Italy and the OECD LEED Programme, in collaboration with Italia Lavoro and Isfol.  It took stock of 10 years of decentralisation since the initial Venice conference which the LEED Programme organised in 1998 at the request of the Italian government.

The Fourth Forum Meeting ‘Partnerships for Skills and Competitiveness’, Vienna, Austria

This meeting sought to identify the best ways for partnerships to contribute to the design and implementation of skills development strategies which can boost competitiveness and make the economy more inclusive. More than 130 partnership practitioners, managers, national co-ordinators of partnership networks, and policy makers from OECD Member and non-member countries joined fruitful debates.
