Change in the labour markets in many countries over the last two decades has resulted in the requirement for labour statistics in not only "traditional" areas such as employment and unemployment but also for indicators on qualitative aspects such as temporary/part-time employment, earnings, etc.

Statistics: Unemployment rate stable at 8.8% in December 2009

The unemployment rate for the OECD area was 8.8% in December 2009, unchanged from the previous month but up by 1.8 percentage points from a year earlier.
