Mr. Poul Erik Dam KRISTENSEN

Mr. Kristensen was born in Hjørring, Denmark, in 1949. In 1977, after graduating with a degree in Political Science at the University of Aarhus, he entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1981 to 1984, Mr. Kristensen served as Secretary of the Danish Embassy in Bankok, Thailand. In 1984, he was seconded to the private sector, as market research manager for the Danish company Novo Industri A/S. Then, in 1987, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as First Secretary at the Permanent Representation of Denmark to the European Union in Brussels.

In 1989, Mr. Kristensen returned to Copenhagen as Head of ‘Invest in Denmark’. From 1992 to 1995, he was posted to the Embassy of Denmark in Washington D.C. as Economic Minister-Counsellor. He was then appointed Head of International Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1999, he became Head of Personnel at the Ministry.

In 2001, Mr. Kristensen was named Undersecretary for International Trade with the personal rank of Ambassador.

From 2004 until his nomination as Permanent Representative of Denmark to the OECD, Mr. Kristensen was Ambassador of Denmark to Canada.

Ambassador Poul Erik Dam Kristensen took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Denmark to the OECD on 1 July 2009.
