BEYOND GDP
Measuring progress, true wealth
and the well-being of nations

International Conference, 19-20 November 2007
On Monday and Tuesday (19th and  20th of  November) the European Commission, European Parliament, Club of Rome, OECD and WWF will host a high level conference to clarify which indices are most appropriate to measure progress, and how these can best be integrated into the decision-making process and taken up by public debate. The conference is closely linked to the OECD's Global Project on "Measuring the Progress of Societies": it is the most important milestone in the project since the OECD ran the 2nd World Forum on "Measuring and Fostering the Progress of Societies" in Istanbul this year.

The debate at the conference is sure to be interesting, with confirmed speakers including Hans-Gert Pöttering (President of the European Parliament); José Manuel Barroso (President of the European Commission); Joaquín Almunia (European Commissioner for Economic & Monetary Affairs); Hazel Henderson (Club of Rome); Pier Carlo Padoan (Deputy Secretary General of the OECD) and HE Chief Emeka Anyaoku (President, WWF).

The Beyond GDP conference will be webcast.
Coverage begins at 15.00 (Brussels time) on 19 November.
Information about the webcast is available at: http://www.beyond-gdp.eu/.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the conference outcomes.
