New OECD subcription products in 2012
One of the key new features of the OECD iLibrary is the direct availability of ready-made tables in multiple formats (HTML, EXDEL, PDF), whether they come from statistical periodicals (such as Main Economic Indicators) or from annual publications of the OECD (such as the OECD Employment Outlook).
We have discovered that, even though interactive database are very attractive to advanced users, most of them are much happier with a set of ready-made tables in useful formats when it comes to finding and using statistics. These ready-made tables are discoverable through the search engine, as well as from the table of contents of the publication on the OECD iLibrary.
In 2012, we have decided to make another step forward to increase the availability of all these tables to more users, and this is why we are introducing two main changes in our subscriptions portfolio:
1 - More publications available on a subscription model.
Most OECD annual publications that were sold on a standing order basis will become available on a subscription model, and all standing order customers will be invited to upgrade. Obviously the books will still be available for purchase on a ad hoc basis but the benefits of subscribing make it very attractive:
- Subscription to OECD annual publications on the OECD iLibrary are the same price as the book
- Full online access to the extended table of contents with all the chapters and excel tables available individually (up to 300 hundred objects)
- Free access to all the back issues published since 1998.
- Perpetual access to all the collection even after expiry of the subscription.
- Ability to set up network access via IP or by username / password.
- Automatic notification or renewal, without having to remember to buy.
- Automatic reception of the print / archive copy if included in the subscription.
- Possibility to subscribe online-only.
This attractive new offer will allow people who are only interested by specific key publications to benefit from maximum usability at a very reasonable price. Most of the new products are annual publications (see the list enclosed), but in three cases we decided to make combinations which made sense:
- Annual National Accounts of OECD Countries: the new subscription will now combine the 6 different annual publications belonging to the “OECD National Accounts” family (Main Aggregates, Detailed Tables, Financial Accounts, Financial Balance Sheets, General Government Accounts, Central Government Debt), which will be available at a very attractive price.
- Information Technology and Communications Outlooks: the subscription will combine online access to both Outlooks which are published every other year, as well as, if that option is retained, the print delivery of either one or the other depending on the year.
- OECD Science, Technology, and Industry Outlook and Scoreboard: the subscription will combine online access to both publications which are published every other year, as well as, if that option is retained, the print delivery of either one or the other depending on the year.

2 - New statistical packages replacing stand-alone databases.
Following the same philosophy, we want to make sure our data subscribers have the best possible options in order to find, access, manipulate, make the most out of OECD statistics. Now that databases such as Main Economic Indicators and National Accounts are also available by table in the three formats (HTML, EXCEL, PDF), individual subscribers can will also be able benefit from them! We have therefore, everywhere possible, now included access to those relevant publications available in the subscription to the databases. In order to facilitate the transition, we have not modified the titles, and we have tried to keep the price increase as low as possible.
