Organised as part of the 8th Global Forum on International Investment, this consultation sought the views of stakeholders on the priority areas for an update of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, including needs and options for specific revisions of both the substantive and procedural provisions of this instrument. This consultation was the first step in launching a possible review of the Guidelines which were last updated in June 2000.

The Consultation was organised around three broad themes: substantive provisions, procedural provisions and institutional issues. Most of the discussion was devoted to an open discussion of the perspectives of business, labour, NGOs, non-adhering countries and international organisations.
