Investment by pension funds and insurance companies


The OECD principles for the regulation of investments by insurance companies and pension funds , approved in 1999 by the Insurance Committee, are one of the first steps in the direction of setting guidelines and standards for the private pension industry. The current research effort is focusing on the functioning of quantitative regulations, the prudent person rule, and self-regulatory practices in OECD countries, and on the implementation of modern asset-liability management.
