The Roundtable was established in 1999 in the aftermath of the so-called Asian financial crisis, and has annually offered a forum for discussion among Asian securities regulators, experts, practitioners, scholars and international organisations on specific topics of main interest from the viewpoint of capital market reform in Asia.  As indicated in the draft agenda, the Roundtable this year discussed topics including “Agency/principal” or ”conflicts of interest” problems of fund managers, Developments in OECD and Asian bond markets, regional cooperation in market development, regional cooperation in enforcement.  Mr. Alan Cameron, former Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, chaired the meeting.  The following non-Member countries/economies attended: Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Vietnam.
