10-11 October 2019 Rome
This capacity building workshop was held in co-operation with the Italian competition authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, AGCM) and will address competition enforcement against unilateral conduct in digital markets.
The workshop was organised into four sessions, each devoted to different challenges arising from the investigation, analysis and resolution of abuse of dominance cases in digital markets: how to assess market power, how to deal with big data, what are the relevant theories of harm and how to structure remedies in these cases.
Selected national competition authorities shared their insights on these four topic areas, drawing from their practical experience and recent cases. In addition, participants had the opportunity to take part in a practical exercise, which aimed to apply the lessons learned throughout the workshop and to stimulating the discussion on specific points.
The workshop provided participants with a better understanding of the challenges arising in abuse of dominance cases in the digital context, and with solutions from agency practice that can help address them.
