The Experts Meeting of the Eurasia Group on Corporate Governance for Capital Markets Development took place in Isanbul, Turkey, 19-20 June 2012. The meeting aimed at discussing a revised draft of the Group’s Survey on “Capital Markets in Eurasia: Two Decades of Reform,” which was updated based on survey responses from stock exchanges and regulatory institutions from the region, along with selected interviews with different capital market participants.

The meeting allowed the Group to identify any issues meriting further development, and to build consensus for recommendations for the Group to consider at its plenary meeting to be organized in December, 2012.

The meeting was hosted by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey and Istanbul Stock Exchange, which also organised a technical seminar for the expert meeting’s participants. The seminar addressed capital market issues including oversight of public disclosure and related party transactions, surveillance of market manipulation, stock exchange market surveillance, dematerialization of financial instruments and central depository systems.
