On 20-22 September 2010 at the United Nations headquarters in New York, a summit of the UN General Assembly will:

  • assess progress in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
  • renew political commitment to achieve these goals

To complement its The OECD and the Millennium Development Goals, the OECD is co-organising the following events in parallel with the summit:

  • Addressing conflict, fragility and armed violence in achieving the MDGs: Emphasising peacebuilding and statebuilding to help address conflict and fragility in the countries that are furthest away from achieving the MDGs
  • Biodiversity, ecosystems and climate change: Scaling up local solutions to achieve the MDGs
  • Development: Is it working for Africa? A clear picture of where there is progress, where it's lacking, and what can be done to move ahead, based on the 2010 Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness in Africa
  • Smarter partnerships in a complex world: Maximising the potential of MDG 8 by building real, effective and equal partnerships
