South-South Co-operation and Capacity Development High Level Event
24-26 March, 2010, Bogotá, Colombia
The High Level Event on South-South Co-operation (SSC) and Capacity Development (CD) took place on 24-26 March in Bogota (www.southsouth.info). SSC can be very different from traditional North-South aid programmes, yet also uses similar modalities such as technical assistance and training. Both have been under intense review in recent years.
In preparation for this meeting, the DAC and its partners drafted two discussion notes which highlight lessons learned and the emerging consensus on reforming technical assistance and training for effective and sustainable capacity development. A third discussion note by Talaat Abdel Malek, CD Alliance Co-chair, focuses on the nexus between SSC and capacity development:
- Technical Assistance for CD, Discussion Note, 19 March 2010 (pdf, 309 kB)
- Training and beyond, Discussion Note, 19 March 2010 (pdf, 416.5 kB)
- South-South Co-operation and Capacity Development: some issues and questions, Discussion Paper by Talaat Abdel-Malek, Economic Adviser to the Minister of International Co-operation, Egypt, Co-Chair of the OECD/DAC Working Party on Aid Effectiveness, and Co-Chair of Capacity Development Alliance
