The DAC Network on gender equality has a successful track record of influencing global processes. Our focus now is on addressing the unfinished business of the MDGs for women and girls and building consensus around a strong post-2015 framework that places a high priority on achieving gender equality and women’s rights.
To address the unfinished business of the MDGs, women and girls should be front and centre of the post-2015 development agenda through a strong standalone goal on gender equality and women’s rights; and gender-specific targets and indicators in all other goals. To support members’ efforts to achieve this the GENDERNET:
- Held a Joint Biennial Workshop with the UN’s Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE) on the MDGs and post-2015 framework on 6-7 November 2013. The workshop was an opportunity to strategise on entry-points and tactics to build consensus around a post-2015 agenda that has gender equality and women’s rights at its heart.
- Supported members’ efforts to prepare for the CSW58 on challenges and achievements in the implementation of the MDGs for women and girls (2014).
