Deforestation and forest degradation are the second leading human cause of CO2 emissions contributing to global warming according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Given the importance of the sector, it is surprising that there have been relatively few attempts to synthesise evaluation evidence on addressing deforestation to reduce CO2 emissions. This paper aims to attract attention to the existing evidence base.
The DAC Network on Development Evaluation has long championed collaborative approaches to evaluations among development agencies and partner countries, known as joint evaluations.
The Evaluation Capacity Development (ECD) Newsletter represents an ongoing opportunity to inform others of ECD initiatives and opportunities for collaboration. It provides information on country, regional and global ECD initiatives, as well as new resources.

The Study on Collaborative Partner-Donor Evaluation, which was mandated and commissioned by the Evaluation Network of the OECD – DAC (EvalNet) in November 2012, was launched at a workshop held in Kampala (Uganda) on 24-25 March 2014. It was hosted by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda.
