Singapore signs its 12th tax agreement meeting the OECD standard

Singapore has today signed a protocol with France that brings the two countries’ bilateral tax treaty into line with the OECD standard on transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes. This being the 12th agreement that it has signed in accordance with the OECD standard, Singapore moves into the category of jurisdictions deemed to have substantially implemented the standard.

OECD Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting: Tackling the Jobs Crisis

OECD employment and labour ministers will meet on 28-29 September to discuss how labour market and social policies can best help workers and low-income households weather the storm of the current jobs crisis. The Ministerial meeting will be preceded by a Policy Forum on the morning of 28 September. The Forum will provide an opportunity for Ministers to share their views on these important issues with the social partners, researchers, representatives of civil society and journalists.

OECD welcomes experts’ call on need for new measures of social progress

In remarks prepared for a workshop on the findings of the Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress set up by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Mr Gurría noted that the OECD is well placed to lead international cooperation on harmonising concepts and methodologies. The OECD World Forum on 27-30 October 2009 will provide the next major international opportunity to advance the Commission’s recommendations.
