Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Tunis on 3-4 October 2016 to open the OECD Ministerial Meeting on Better Policies for Inclusive Growth and Economic Integration in the MENA Region.
In Tunis, the Secretary-General also participated in the MENA-OECD 2016 Forum on Competitiveness and Governance where he delivered a keynote speech (in French) on creating opportunities for youth.
Mr. Gurría also presented the EU-OECD programme on promoting investment in the Mediterranean; the OECD-AECID project on strengthening women’s access to decision making in the public administration at all levels and local elected councils in Tunisia; and the OECD-G7 Deauville Partnership project "Towards inclusive and open governments: promoting women’s participation in parliaments, local councils and policy-making in Tunisia".
The Secretary-General held bilateral meetings with Mr. Beji Caïd Essebsi, President of the Republic of Tunisia; Mr. Youssef Chahed, Head of Government of Tunisia; and several high level-officials of Tunisia and other countries attending the Ministerial Conference.
